Saudi Arabia updates equipment type approval procedures

​As of February 12, 2025, Saudi Arabia has transitioned the type approval and conformity assessment process for communication and information technology (ICT) devices from the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) platform to the SABER platform, managed by the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) .

Key Changes in the Certification Process

  1. Unified Platform: The SABER platform now serves as the central system for registering and certifying ICT products intended for the Saudi market, replacing the previous CST system .​
  2. Certification Requirements:
    • Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC): Certifies that the product meets Saudi technical regulations.
    • Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC): Required for each shipment to ensure compliance with Saudi standards .​

  • Streamlined Process: The consolidation under SABER simplifies the certification process, reducing administrative burdens and facilitating faster market entry.​
