Effective Date and Requirements: From August 1, 2024, all imported smartphones, chargers, and electronic devices in Saudi Arabia must use USB Type-C ports. These products must comply with the new standard specifications SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2017.
Compliance Review: All organizations must review and ensure that certificates of conformity issued before this date meet the new requirements.
Invalidation of Non-Compliant Certificates: From October 1, 2024, previously issued PCOC (Product Certificate of Conformity) certificates that do not meet the new standards will be invalid. These certificates cannot be used to apply for SCOC (Shipment Certificate of Conformity), and SASO will revoke them.
Affected Products and HS Codes: The announcement applies to specific products and their corresponding HS (Harmonized System) codes, which will need to adhere to the updated USB Type-C port requirement.
