On June 5, 2023, the World Trade Organization (WTO) issued notification G/TBT/N/TPKM/525 concerning the proposal for legal inspection requirements for mobile air conditioning units. The WTO notification deadline is August 4, 2023. Considering that mobile air conditioning units pose similar risks to traditional air conditioners that are already regulated by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology, and Inspection (BSMI), the BSMI suggests including mobile air conditioning units in the scope of legal inspection, and enforcing mandatory inspections from January 1, 2025.
