On May 27, 2026, Chile published SUBTEL Exempt Resolution No. 966, amending the Short-Range Device (SRD) Technical Standard established under Resolution No. 1,985/2017. The amendment updates several requirements relevant to manufacturers and importers of wireless devices marketed in Chile.
What Manufacturers and Importers Need to Know
- New medical-device category: Ultra-low-power active implantable medical devices operating at 9–315 kHz are added to the SRD framework, with a maximum field strength of 30 dBµA/m at 10 meters.
- More flexible QR labeling: The previously prescribed QR-code size restrictions have been relaxed. The responsible party may determine the QR-code size provided it remains fully readable and functional. Compliance with ISO/IEC 18004 is recommended.
