On May 16, 2023, the Telecommunications Bureau of Chile (SUBTEL) announced that, as part of strengthening the media agenda, the FM frequency band in Chile will be expanded from 76MHz to 108MHz to allow more radio stations to operate in this frequency range. Currently, there are 2,500 commercial and community radio stations operating throughout Chile. The expansion of the FM frequency band will enable at least 1,000 new broadcasting stations to operate across Chile.
